Double sconce in solid gilt bronze, Louis XVI style
Bronze sconce, old gold finish, great elegance, rich decor, two lights - Lucien Gau - Wall lights
Great elegance and very fine workmanship for this Louis XVI style gilt bronze two light wall sconce. Its old gold finish enhances the finesse of its decor whose degree of precision is made possible thanks to the use of a solid bronze fruit of the best alloys. Its fluted and slightly tapered body ends in its low end with a bud surmounted by fine leaves delicately worked. Its two arms in double volutes carrying candles reveal a remarkable quality of work by the engraved underlining of their curves. From there are two identical basins, fluted, flared, surmounted and terminated by a disk hemmed with a finely beaded necklace. The decor of the top of the applique is original, consisting of a head foliage. The quality of realization of this applies as the precision of its decorations are exceptional. They benefit from the cumulative know-how of the six generations of craftsmen working for the Lucien Gau house, master in the entirely manual realization of these works.
