This charming Louis XVI style lamp in solid bronze is characterised by its double sculpted, close-fitting and symmetrical wall light and its ivory oval lampshade edged with a fine gold braid. Two elegantly curved arms with candles protrude from the pearl base, which is surmounted by an ornament of sculpted leaves. The finesse of the flat bowls enhances the work of the bobeches. A central bar protrudes from the shade, revealing a remarkable decorative detail. The quality of workmanship on this lamp is exceptional. Moulded in sand, assembled and decorated entirely by hand, in France, by the craftsmen of the Lucien Gau workshop, who have centuries of experience.

The craftsmen employed by Lucien Gau work, finish, assemble and patinate the bronzes using the most traditional methods, the heritage of a long tradition of excellence. The bronzes are cast by hand: for each model, the craftsmen model the parts of a lamp, a reference example. For each piece made from this model, a sand mould is made into which the molten bronze is poured. The mould is broken when it is removed and is only used once. This process produces a unique finesse and allows great freedom of design. Once cooled and removed from the mould, each piece undergoes a long process of finishing: deburring, turning, chiseling fine ornamental motifs, polishing and applying the patina are all done by hand and require unique expertise. The most commonly used patinas are old gold, matt pewter, bright gold and antique. Lucien Gau's collections include lights of great elegance and balance of form.
