Lucien Gau
Sublime classic style lighting, solid bronze and bohemian crystal
Founded in 1934, the company Lucien Gau is one of the most renowned French manufacturer of prestige lighting. Lucien Gau draws and manufactures in particular an exceptional range of chandelier, sconces and candlesticks of Dutch styles, Louis XIII, Louis XIV, Louis XV, Louis XVI, Directory, Empire and Restoration. The manufacture, of an exceptional quality, is entirely carried out in France. The craftsmen employed by Lucien Gau work, finish, assemble and apply a patina on solid bronze according to the most traditional methods, inherited from a long tradition of excellence. The bronzes are cast in a traditional way: for each model, the craftsmen sculpt the pieces of a luminaire, a reference copy. For each copy made from this model, a sand mold is made, in which cast bronze is poured. Broken during demolding, the mold is used only once. This process provides a unique finesse, and allows great freedom of drawing. Cooled then demolded, each piece undergoes a long finishing work: deburring, turning, chiselling of fine ornamental motifs, polishing and patina application are entirely done by hand, and require a unique know-how. The most frequently used patinas are old gold, matt tin, bright gold and antique. In Lucien Gau's collections, there are luminaries of great elegance and balance of form. Masterful chandelier or discreet applique, each model has the same quality of manufacture. Lucien Gau has made the lighting of many exceptional buildings, castles, ministries and palaces, all over the world. Really Beautiful is proud to be able to present you such a collection of luminaries, with exemplary design and quality.
