Beautiful straight gold floor lamp from the classic Nymphéa collection, all in brass and satinised opal glass. The model has a round base with a sculpted brass water lily and a straight brass tube at the foot. The latter is decorated with a pretty water lily at the end and is surmounted by a two-part bowl, the base in brass and the flared part in opal glass on the inside and satin-finished on the outside.
Heir to a Parisian bronze workshop that dates back to the 19th century, Lucien Gau continues to demonstrate his exceptional craftsmanship, which has been passed down from generation to generation, year after year, both in terms of restoration and conservation, and in the reproduction of lamps using techniques that are faithful to the period in which they were created.

Founded in 1934, Lucien Gau is one of France's most prestigious lighting manufacturers. Lucien Gau designs and manufactures an exceptional range of chandeliers and wall lights in the Dutch, Louis XIII, Louis XIV, Louis XV, Louis XVI, Directoire, Empire and Restoration styles. The craftsmen employed by Lucien Gau work, finish, assemble and patinate the bronzes using the most traditional methods, the heritage of a long tradition of excellence. The bronzes are cast by hand: for each model, the craftsmen model the parts of a lamp, a reference example. For each piece made from this model, a sand mould is made into which the molten bronze is poured. The mould is broken when it is removed and is only used once. This process produces a unique finesse and allows great freedom of design. Once cooled and removed from the mould, each piece undergoes a long process of finishing: deburring, turning, chiseling fine ornamental motifs, polishing and applying the patina are all done by hand and require unique expertise. The most commonly used patinas are old gold, matt pewter, bright gold and antique. Lucien Gau's collections include lights of great elegance and balance of form.
